The DTA AI Policy applies directly to all non-corporate Commonwealth entities, other than the Defence portfolio and the national intelligence community. Through the Commonwealth AI model procurement clauses, the obligations flow down to anyone selling AI capability into the Commonwealth.
Key obligations
- Implement the DTA AI Policy in full (Accountable Official, AI strategy, impact assessments, transparency statement, training).
- Use the Commonwealth AI model procurement clauses in tenders and contracts.
- Keep the public transparency statement current.

- 17 Mar 2025AI model procurement clauses published.
- 15 Dec 2025AI Policy v2.0 in force — still current at September 2026.
